“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever” (Ephesians 3:20-21, ESV).
A superhero is a person who has extraordinary or superhuman powers and is dedicated to protecting the world from evil.
In this second prayer of Paul in the letter to the Ephesians, the apostle prays for the spiritual strength of the Ephesian believers (and, consequently, all believers). Paul basically prays that the Ephesian believers will become God’s superheroes!
Paul prays for the power of God that is already at work in the Ephesian believers by the Holy Spirit, who dwells in them, to do extraordinary or superhuman feats!
We too should pray that God will use us to accomplish feats for Him and His glory beyond anything that we could ask for or think of.
And if you do pray for God to activate His power within you, then don’t be surprised if God makes a spiritual Superman or spiritual Wonder Woman out of you!
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8, ESV).
