Belonging – Isaiah 44:3-5

Hand-PropertyOfJesus“I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring and My blessing on your descendants; and they will spring up among the grass like poplars by streams of water. This one will say, ‘I am the Lord’s’; and that one will call on the name of Jacob; and another will write on his hand, ‘Belonging to the Lord,’ and will name Israel’s name with honor” (Isaiah 44:3-5, NASB).

Have you ever written a phone number, address, or other short note on the palm of your hand? Perhaps you needed to remember some important information that you would need to reference later.

When God gives us His Spirit to dwell in us, it is like He puts a divine notation on us that we belong to Him, that we are His people and thereby eligible for all the benefits and blessings inherited by His children.

When God gives you His Spirit, it signifies that you belong to God. You are His heritage because you have His DNA dwelling in you. You are the Lord’s and you can call on His Name because you are in His family. You are His child because He has bestowed you with His name!

When God gives you His Spirit, you are the property of Jesus! He is the One you serve!

So, try this. Write in the palm of your hand with a pen or marker that you belong to the Lord. Write the words, “Property of Jesus.”

And then look at your hand several times during the day to remind yourself that God’s Spirit dwells in you. To help you remember that you are His property. To recall that you are His child. That you can call on His name. That His blessing is upon you!

You were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14, NASB)
