Heaven on Earth – Revelation 21:3

NewJerusalem“Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God” (Revelation 21:3, ESV).

If you are planning to go to heaven to be with God when you die, don’t plan to stay there forever because God is coming to live on Earth!

In John’s vision of the future he saw a new heaven and earth. He saw the holy city, the New Jerusalem, coming down from heaven. John was describing heaven coming to earth!

At the end of John’s vision is the establishment of a new world order where Christ is King. And, the future that God planned for His created order is established on earth!

Heaven and earth will come together so that the dwelling place of God is no longer in heaven but on the earth among His redeemed people.

In this present age we experience a little portion of the eternal life that awaits us by the indwelling Holy Spirit, Who is God’s abiding presence with us. The Holy Spirit sustains us on earth and prepares us for heaven. But, in the new heaven on earth we will we will dwell fully in God’s personal presence forever.

Now, God’s Spirit dwells in you to provide you with a little heaven on earth until the day when heaven comes to earth!

“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17, ESV)
