“I commanded Joshua at that time: Your own eyes have seen everything the Lord your God has done to these two kings. The Lord will do the same to all the kingdoms you are about to enter. Don’t be afraid of them, for the Lord your God fights for you” (Deuteronomy 3:21-22, HCSB).
These are words spoken by Moses when he transferred leadership over Israel to Joshua. There’s no enemy that Joshua and the Israelites should fear because…
“The Lord Your God fights for you!”
Although Moses is referencing future battles and wars that Joshua will encounter as Israel begins its conquest of the land of Canaan, he speaks of God’s enabling power in the present tense.
“The Lord Your God fights for you!”
God doesn’t just show up sometimes and then leave again. His powerful presence accompanies His people all the time and everywhere they go.
“The Lord Your God fights for you!”
God demonstrates His faithful love for His people by standing by them. God’s persistent protection covers His covenant people.
THE LORD YOUR GOD FIGHTS FOR YOU!
Because God fights for you, you are empowered to fight for Him, to accomplish His plans and purposes, to do His will!
