Life Choices – Deuteronomy 30:11-16

choices“Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between life and death, between prosperity and disaster.” (Deuteronomy 30:15, NLT).

We begin each day by making a choice between walking in the way of life or walking in they way of death. It’s a life or death choice!

No, I’m not saying that you have to get saved everyday, but, in a way I am.

Getting saved and staying saved are different aspects of the same grace that God gives us. Jesus told us to do both–be born again (John 3:3) and endure to the end (Matthew 10:22; 24:13).

So, when you wake up, you need to make a choice to walk in the way of life, following Jesus, each day: “For I command you this day to love the Lord your God and to keep his commands, decrees, and regulations by walking in his ways” (vs. 16).

It’s not really that hard of a choice to make because God places the power to do so within your reach: “This command I am giving you today is not too difficult for you to understand, and it is not beyond your reach. It is not kept in heaven, so distant that you must ask, Who will go up to heaven and bring it down so we can hear it and obey? It is not kept beyond the sea, so far away that you must ask, Who will cross the sea to bring it to us so we can hear it and obey? No, the message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart so that you can obey it.” (vs. 11-14).

So, when you wake up each morning, reach over and pick up your Bible (or Kindle or iPad with a Bible app) laying on the stand beside your bed, read and study it, pray about it and about your new day.

Then you will be enabled to enter into your day with the words and way of life resonating in your mind and renewing your spirit. Then you will be enabled to make life choices!
